"A Writer's Anticipations: Seeking Meaningful Feedback"
In today's world, there are numerous channels through which one can express themselves, with the nature of communication varying based on the audience and context. The tone and style of content are influenced by how you wish to present yourself and how you want your recipients to perceive or understand your mood.
Feedback from the audience is crucial for any communicator. In the print age, journalists gauged their impact through letters from readers, discussions sparked by their articles, or the influence their writing had on outcomes in society at large. In the digital age, countless platforms enable anyone to share content without needing authorization, allowing anyone to become a content creator or journalist, as I am doing now.
Regardless of one's training as a content writer, people expect responses to their communications in both the Print Age and the Digital Age. When someone initiates a conversation or shares their thoughts, they have certain expectations. In the digital age, numerous tools not only help spread messages but also track engagement. As an ordinary person, I also expect responses to the thoughts I communicate.
Immediate responses often come in the form of reactions, such as a thumbs-up emoji (👍), indicating that someone has read what I have written. While these reactions provide encouragement, they are incomplete. More beneficial are comments that help the writer understand what might be missing or how the message could be improved.
Comments from those who disagree with the writer's perspective are particularly valuable. They help the writer see things without blinders and understand other viewpoints. Whether or not the writer agrees with these perspectives is not as important as gaining a broader understanding. I also welcome such feedback for this article of mine.
