After All It's People Verdict.
When we think of Indian Politicians general impressions
are; they have no principal, selfish, self-centred, can go to any extent, loose
character, goon, opportunist... It is
rare to see an IDEAL Politician, yes recently someone had shown hope of utopian
politician but experiment failed or is mask thrown from the face. At least for now we are living with the
reality that all, correction, most, of the politician are same, need to be fair
with those who are honest and sincere, unfortunately if they reach to
recognition level their survival is question.
In this mobility era where updates was not only most
intruding but real time, this high pitched and mudsling general election reached
not only to most of our country population but also keenly watched by outside
world. Campaign became personal with
Modi taunting Rahul Gandhi as Shehzade was answered bitterly by senior congress
leader Mani Shankar Iyer that Modi is not fit to be Prime Minister but can
serve tea in Congress meeting. Marital
status being linked, how a person who cannot take care of wife can server
nation. ABCD taunt on Congress was
responded Modi’s alphabetical premier starts with F that stands for Fake
Encounter and ends with G which stands for Genocide. Attack and counter went on for months billions
of dollars spent on campaigns which make common citizens ponder, how the cash
drought market is flooded with cash.
Multiple phase of election which went little over a month results on May
16th showed doors to Congress party which was ruling over a decade,
for their miss-governance especially in their 2nd term. Ruling party accepted the verdict and as
normal process was care taking government till new Prime Minister was sworn
in.
Our country’s system with all its weakness makes
politician accept people’s verdict, hats off to the constitutional
founders. Although systems ensures,
however bad politician is, to accept defeat.
We should give full credit to the politicians for seamless transition of
power which was difficult to imagine when we were witnessing aggressive
campaigning by all politicians cutting across party lines. There was great gestures
displayed by winning parties, message from BJP President Rajnath Singh to party
workers was although it is time to celebrate but not to cause nuisance to
others. During the swearing in ceremony,
although rivals, keeping up Indian tradition Nitin Gadkari seeking blessings of
arch rival Sharad Pawar. Amit Shah
ensuring that veteran politician is given the due respect by holding hands of
Mr.Mulayam Singh Yadav ensured that he is seated in the first row. As gesture Mr.Advani greeting Sonia Gandhi
and exchanging pleasantries. Skeptical can comment, after all politicians are
hand in glove, they have gone to the extent of saying match fixing and rivalry
shown by political party is gallery show.
This thinking is taking away credit from all those
political leaders who worked hard to win, for the moment let’s keep in abeyance
who won, but their efforts to reach out to people should be appreciated. Here we
should forgive their maligned image, especially to those voted out. For many people this would not be a surprise,
but for country with a diverse features currently facing many internal
sensitive issues pertaining to communal, geographical, water disputes, caste
recognition, reservations….this is an achievement and should appreciate this
aspect of politician who at the end of the day accepts people’s verdict.
